The Master of Bioinformatics is embedded in a strong bioinformatics research community in KU Leuven, who monthly meet at the Bioinformatics Interest Group. Bioinformatics research groups are spread over the Arenberg and Gasthuisberg campus and are located in the research departments of Microbial and Molecular Systems (M2S), Electrical Engineering (ESAT), Human Genetics, Microbiology and Immunology (REGA), Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Chemistry and Biology.

Hi! I'm currently pursuing a masters degree in biostatistics, trying to decide between going the more traditional biostatistics route or for the more exciting bioinformatics/genomics track. Would really appreciate some information on locations and general salary ranges for jobs in this field. I'm also considering furthering my study into the PhD program, but I'm concerned about the time investment. Is there a clear increase in salary and/or job satisfaction with a PhD vs. Masters degree background? Thanks!
